This week: France, Italy and California
Barton & Guestier Bordeaux Blanc (2014): From France, a crisp, well-balanced blend of Sauvignon Blanc (80%) and Semillon (20%) grapes. Aromas of quince, honeydew and lime lead to tastes of gooseberry and a hint of herbs. These flavors combined with a tart finish make it a perfect companion for fish and shellfish, or just for summer sipping.
Belleruche Rosé (2016): An exceptional everyday wine from French winemaker Michel Charpoutier, this dry Cotes-du-Rhone rosé features subtle strawberry flavors, a silky mouth feel and a lively, lasting finish. A wonderful summer wine with fish, fowl and barbecue dishes, it also works beautifully as a cocktail before the main event!
Vitiano Rosso (2014): From Umbria, this delicious equal parts blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Sangiovese grapes produces a deep ruby colored wine with dark fruit aromas and flavors of plum and berries. Oak barrel aging softens the taste for perfect pairing with grilled red meats, pizza and tomato sauce dishes.
Fivewise Meritage Blend (2014): Cabernet Sauvignon for structure, Merlot for lively fruit and supple texture, Petit Verdot for intense color and robust flavors, Malbec for subtle spice and Cabernet Franc for notes of dried herbs all work together to make this blend from California’s Central Coast full bodied and rich, with a long silky finish. Perfect for chilin’ and grillin’!
